Enabling Environment
Supporting Key Actors to Drive Jordan’s Energy Transition
The Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) Project bolstered Jordan’s energy-efficiency and renewable-energy ecosystem through strategic partnerships with government bodies and electricity-distribution companies. After identifying critical gaps, the project delivered targeted support to institutions such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, the National Metrology Institute, national power-distribution firms, and the Cities and Villages Development Bank.
Comprehensive assistance—capacity-building, consulting, policy development, and regulatory updates—improved the services these institutions provide to local communities and strengthened their engagement with all stakeholders. The project also organized local and international study tours with global partners, spotlighting national priorities like smart grids and smart metering. Participants gained first-hand exposure to the latest developments in energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy storage, and grid-smart technologies.
These efforts support Jordan’s energy transition, boost sector sustainability, and encourage innovation—forming part of the project’s technical assistance, grounded in a precise assessment of stakeholder needs.
Building Bridges: Cooperative Efforts for Knowledge Sharing
By forging strategic partnerships with leading local entities—such as the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission and the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization—the project advanced knowledge exchange. Joint initiatives updated guidelines for connecting renewable-energy projects to the grid and developed national standards for energy storage. Consultative events were held to discuss new guidelines with a strong focus on safety and environmental stewardship.
In addition to regulatory updates, the project launched the “Guide to EE&RE Systems,” a user-friendly reference that helps individuals understand sustainable-energy solutions and make informed adoption decisions. Aimed at households and SMEs across Jordan, the guide strengthens the enabling environment for renewable-energy growth.
To maximize reach, the guide is available in both print and digital editions, ensuring every segment of society can access best practices and support the wider adoption of clean-energy solutions.
